2016 Soulful Giving Blanket Concert A Great Success!

Kelcema Audio was invited to provide full production  services for the Soulful Giving Blanket Foundation Concert  held on August 6th, 2016.
As the scope and success of the Soulful Giving Foundation's signature event every summer has grown, the event producers knew it was time to increase the size and quality of their production. In February of 2016, we started discussions with Festival Producer Linda Yoshida to determine how we could best feature the musical talents of Radical Revolution (a 90's era songs cover band), Jukebox Heroes (a Foreigner tribute band), Barracuda (a tribute to the band Heart), and Stone in Love (a Journey tribute band).

To create a quality audio experience for the several thousand in attendance, we proposed using 6 boxes of JBL VerTec VT4888 per side, flown from the scaffolding-sound bays. We also utilized 3 JBL SRX 728S dual-18" subwoofers per side for a solid low end, as well as VRX 932LA-1 passive speakers for front fills. Our Yamaha LS9-32 mixed monitors, which received its signal from our 250' W4 Horizon split snake. On the stage, we provided all stage power and a full complement of our JBL STX812M monitor wedges, along with an additional pair of JBL VRX932LAP over a VRX918SP subwoofer for a drum fill. Finally, we provided 4 channels of Shure QLX-D wireless microphones. 6 ETC Source4 Ellipsoidals provided stage lighting.

To properly power this system, we deployed our MQ Power WhisperWatt 45kW diesel generator, along with 100' of five-wire camlock feeder cable, cable ramps and a power distro. Even though the venue has a cluster of 20A power boxes spread around the performance field, previous years were challenged with overloading the available circuits, leading to tripped breakers. With a show of this magnitude (local TV personality Andy Carson was one of the MCs, and Oregon Governor Kate Brown made an appearance!), we decided that it was vital to ensure absolutely no "show-stoppers" of any kind. Our diesel generator is large enough to handle the entire stage without trouble, and because we parked it behind and below the stage area, it wasn't audible at all to the audience!
